An Intense Emotional and Unrelenting Mystery

From the moment I picked up Mortal End: An Opera of Cursed and Fated Vampires, I was entranced. As a lover of dark gothic fantasy, this book grabbed hold of my imagination and never let go. Maddie Rose Andry’s writing is nothing short of breathtaking, painting a world that blends ancient mythology with modern horror.
The story centers on Dr. Phenice Jones who is plagued by night terrors. She finds herself caught in a transformative spiral from mortal to vampire struggling with the overwhelming gravity of her past and the terrifying future that awaits. Watching Phenice grapple with her own transformation is nothing short of a spectacle.
Andry’s writing is cinematic in its vivid descriptions. The scenes unfold with such clarity that you feel transported into Phenice's world. The tragedy that surrounds Phenice’s transformation isn’t just emotional — it’s a grand narrative that shapes every character, and each one comes to life with fierce personality and complexity. Andry’s skillful character development shows Phenice to be a heroine, a survivor, and a symbol of strength in the darkness. As you follow her journey, you find yourself rooting for her, feeling her pain, her triumphs, and her fear. The author's intricate details of history, romance, fear, and supernatural intrigue create a setting that feels alive. Every corner of the world is rich with mystery, every encounter with danger is a heartbeat skipped, and the romance that lingers in the shadows adds another layer of emotional depth to the story.
"Mortal End" is a stunning, high-octane ride through a dark and beautiful world, one that’s as much about the emotional and philosophical journey as it is about the supernatural one. Andry’s writing doesn't just let you experience the story — it dares you to feel it. This is a book that will linger in your mind long after the final page is turned.

Mortal End: An Opera of Cursed and Fated Vampires by Maddie Rose Andry is an absolutely mesmerizing tale that pulls you into a world of dark romance, intrigue, and supernatural horror. From the first page, the book grips you with its hauntingly poetic prose and deeply atmospheric storytelling, making it impossible to put down.

One of the highlights of this novel is its operatic feel. What an AMAZING book to debut with! Maddie Rose Andry ‘had me’ at the prologue- which RARELY happens. She delivers a captivating narrative that skillfully blends suspense and psychological depth. At the center of this literary achievement stands Dr. Phenice Jones, one of the most fascinating protagonists I've encountered in recent fiction.
Andry's masterful character development transforms Dr. Jones from a seemingly straightforward scientist into a complex figure whose motivations and secrets unfold with deliberate pacing. Her brilliance is matched only by her deeply human flaws, creating a character who feels authentically real despite the extraordinary circumstances she navigates.
What truly distinguishes "Mortal End" is how Andry weaves Dr. Jones's personal journey into the broader themes of mortality, ethics, and redemption. Each chapter reveals new layers to her personality, challenging readers to reconsider their initial impressions- which I did, MULTIPLE times!
The prose is elegant yet accessible, with vivid descriptions that bring both the clinical laboratory settings and emotional landscapes to life. The author demonstrates remarkable restraint, knowing precisely when to accelerate the narrative and when to allow moments of reflection.
"Mortal End" announces Andry as a formidable literary talent whose keen understanding of human psychology elevates what could have been merely an entertaining thriller into a profound meditation on life's inevitable conclusion.
